Final Blog Post- Introduction to Tourism of The Bahamas

Haven't you ever traveled to a new country whether it be on a vacation or for business and thought about how the value of your dollar spent is being used, and whether or not it's impacting this area? I'm about to tell you how tourism effects The Bahamas culture, economic standpoint, and if it hurts there economic standpoint.

What if I told you that your extravagant island getaway also helps the islanders in a great way financially. Statistics have shown that American tourism to The Bahamas greatly impacts the economy in The Bahamas. Haven’t you ever wondered if your money is positively impacting a business or country you visit? The impact of your dollar increased the job market. In fact, tourism is one of the highest sources of income in The Bahamas. On the other hand, it might also hurt in some ways. Let me clarify, the more tourist that come visit, the higher the demand for resources and supplies they need to get. It has put a strain on water and electrical usage, think about how much more electricity they must use to keep things up and running for their guest.

Since we are talking about some negatives I will go ahead and point out that the crime rate has since moved up with pickpocketing, and threats being at the top of the crime risk against tourist. With more people in one area the more likely crimes will arise, and to be aware of that. Also as stated in my outline tourism also has a pitfall on marine life, and ecosystems. With traveling comes some disadvantages. Think about this, the main way people travel to The Bahamas is through a cruise chip. Well sadly enough these cruise ships emit waste and oils into the sea that is extremely harmful to the marine life, and damaging the coral reefs.

On the brighter side of things tourism has many positives, helps the job market, it is a hotspot for hotels, and gives the hospitality industry in The Bahamas loads of business, tourism brings lots of publicity and makes small businesses more well known and on the market. Since the demand of visitors the employment rate moved up to a 60%  and continues to rise each year. helps the job market, it is a hotspot for hotels, and gives the hospitality industry in The Bahamas loads of business, tourism brings lots of publicity and makes small businesses more well known and on the market.

According to Global Insight The Bahamas Total Tourism Economic Impact  "tourisms total economic contribution equaled $2.8 billion in 2003, comprising of 51% of Bahamas Gross Domestic Product, terms of employment it's helped raise 97,383 jobs or 63% of the employment rate." This is tremendous for The Bahamas because, it helps thousands of families who were struggling to make end meet and put food on their tables. now there are more opportunities for people to go out and work hard and provide for their families.
