Haven't you ever traveled to a new country whether it be on a vacation or for business and thought about how the value of your dollar spent is being used, and whether or not it's impacting this area? I'm about to tell you how tourism effects The Bahamas culture, economic standpoint, and if it hurts there economic standpoint.  What if I told you that your extravagant island getaway also helps the islanders in a great way financially.  Statistics have shown that American tourism to The Bahamas greatly impacts the economy in The Bahamas. Haven’t you ever wondered if your money is positively impacting a business or country you visit? The impact of your dollar increased the job market. In fact, tourism is one of the highest sources of income in The Bahamas. On the other hand, it might also hurt in some ways. Self Assessment

I don't feel like my blog meets all the rubric criteria, I say that because I needed to fix my formatting such as chunking my text and fixing the MLA formatting as well as wrapping my pictures around the text.   I thought I knew the correct formatting of how a blog was supposed to look like, which wasn't the case, so I'm working on that.  I am making sure I understand what is being asked of me, even though some things might not be correct, I feel like I am taking the right steps into becoming a better writer and I am learning along the way.  I used to procrastinate a lot but, I have gotten better at doing my work almost immediately when it's assigned.  I review my work and revise it, make sure there's no spelling or grammar errors. I need to get better at the MLA format.    I feel fine about letting my peers reading my blog because I know that we are all here to learn, and I have the understanding that not everyone knows how to write blogs, but as long as we all

Blog Post #4- Getting to know your island: Bermuda

Image
As many of us know Bermuda is infamously known as The Bermuda Triangle, VCL  exclaims "a region of the Atlantic ocean where many ships and planes were said to disappear". Still to this day people have no clue as to why these strange disappearing's keep happening, they don't know if it's the climate making people disoriented or if there's a more sinister situation happening.  All that aside Bermuda is consisted of seven main coral islands shaped like a fish hook, a little bit about the island is "it's made up of most Bermudian English, a dialect distinct from other Caribbean creole languages, Portuguese is also spoken here" (VCL).  Bermuda is unique in more ways, it's colonization was actually on accident. "the first settlement on Bermuda was forged in the wreckage of a British flagship called Sea Venture in 1609." This interested me the most because it's one of the most well known islands of the Caribbean and it was settled com

Caribbean History- Nicaragua

Image
Nicaragua is a beautiful country located in Central America, historically known as the Atlantic coast. Nicaragua is very unique historically, because it is the only country to be colonized by both the Spanish and the British. As stated on VCL "Nicaragua has two histories, a pre Columbian era which the indigenous people migrated from Mexico to Columbia and the modern era where Christopher Columbus invaded." Now you could say this is definitely a revolutionary time where the conquistadors are claiming their land for future generations to come. Speaking of which iEplore.com states " in 1524 Nicaragua was truly colonized by the conquistador Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba who is the founder of Nicaragua, it was left alone for 20 years before he colonized it". So these are really trying times for this region.  As one can suspect it wasn't an easy process colonizing this country, many indigenous people lost their lives due to infectious diseases and starvation.

Panama Blog #2

Panama I chose the beautiful region of Panama because I was captivated by its beautiful water ways alongside mountainous landscapes. Fun fact about panama it is the biggest canal region in Central America. Most people when thinking of the Panama Canal would be amazed to know that this region is becoming a very popular place for tourist and it is expanding their horizons based on the new demographic in the 21 st century. Panama has an abundant number of different foods you could ever want. Varying from Ceviche (which I hear was one of the most popular dishes) to beef. Since it is right on the canal you better believe their seafood is going to be the most fresh and flavorful food you have ever had. Thinking of the assortment of flavors in their food is making my mouth water right now. Panama also has a great selection of music to listen to such as jazz to Reggaeton. Things you might need to know before visiting this amazing place is “pack shorts and sandals, the US Dollar is accepte

Hello Everyone my name is Emily Terry I am a freshman year film student at Georgia Gwinnett College. This is my first time creating a blog and I'm looking forward to what I will be creating on here. A little bit about myself, I was born in the beautiful state of Georgia in a quaint city of Roswell in the outskirts of Hotlanta. I am one of Georgia's first set of Quintuplets. Which means I'm one of five kids, my two sisters and two brothers were born on March 19, 1997, which happens to be around the time of the Hale-Bopp comet. Since then we've since moved to Athens Georgia and have lived there ever since. Let me speak a little bit on my interests. Every year since I was five my brother would take my siblings and I on a ski trip. This has instilled a great passion for skiing and the mountain air. This passion has led me to work at Breckenridge Ski Resort in Breckinridge Colorado, and Deer Valley Ski Resort  in Park City Utah. Now being in this specific town in Utah spark
