Self Assessment

I don't feel like my blog meets all the rubric criteria, I say that because I needed to fix my formatting such as chunking my text and fixing the MLA formatting as well as wrapping my pictures around the text.   I thought I knew the correct formatting of how a blog was supposed to look like, which wasn't the case, so I'm working on that.  I am making sure I understand what is being asked of me, even though some things might not be correct, I feel like I am taking the right steps into becoming a better writer and I am learning along the way.  I used to procrastinate a lot but, I have gotten better at doing my work almost immediately when it's assigned.  I review my work and revise it, make sure there's no spelling or grammar errors. I need to get better at the MLA format.    I feel fine about letting my peers reading my blog because I know that we are all here to learn, and I have the understanding that not everyone knows how to write blogs, but as long as we all

Blog Post #4- Getting to know your island: Bermuda

Image
As many of us know Bermuda is infamously known as The Bermuda Triangle, VCL  exclaims "a region of the Atlantic ocean where many ships and planes were said to disappear". Still to this day people have no clue as to why these strange disappearing's keep happening, they don't know if it's the climate making people disoriented or if there's a more sinister situation happening.  All that aside Bermuda is consisted of seven main coral islands shaped like a fish hook, a little bit about the island is "it's made up of most Bermudian English, a dialect distinct from other Caribbean creole languages, Portuguese is also spoken here" (VCL).  Bermuda is unique in more ways, it's colonization was actually on accident. "the first settlement on Bermuda was forged in the wreckage of a British flagship called Sea Venture in 1609." This interested me the most because it's one of the most well known islands of the Caribbean and it was settled com

Caribbean History- Nicaragua

Nicaragua is a beautiful country located in Central America, historically known as the Atlantic coast. Nicaragua is very unique historically, because it is the only country to be colonized by both the Spanish and the British. As stated on VCL "Nicaragua has two histories, a pre Columbian era which the indigenous people migrated from Mexico to Columbia and the modern era where Christopher Columbus invaded." Now you could say this is definitely a revolutionary time where the conquistadors are claiming their land for future generations to come. Speaking of which iEplore.com states " in 1524 Nicaragua was truly colonized by the conquistador Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba who is the founder of Nicaragua, it was left alone for 20 years before he colonized it". So these are really trying times for this region.  As one can suspect it wasn't an easy process colonizing this country, many indigenous people lost their lives due to infectious diseases and starvation.
